Newcastle Transfers: 5 Cheaper Alternatives To Loic Remy

Newcastle will have to stump up £16 million if they want to sign Loic Remy permanently. That's the verdict of Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp, whose side lent the Frenchman to the Magpies on loan last summer. QPR signed Remy for £8 million from Marseille in January 2013 but the striker wasn't able to help the Hoops avoid relegation into the Championship and moved to the north east six months later. There, he has banged in 10 Premier League goals in 18 appearances for the Magpies, and Redknapp believes his market value has doubled as a result. The ex-Tottenham boss said recently:
"For what we got him for, he€™s probably worth double that now. He€™s scored goals in the Premier League again this year."
That's bad news for Newcastle, who operated with frugality in the last transfer window, bringing in only Remy on a temporary basis, suggesting they may not have the funds necessary to keep him. Clearly, Pardew is in a difficult position, though with the transfer window now open, he can solve some of his problems this month by planning ahead. If the Magpies cannot match QPR's valuation of Remy, here, we analyse 5 Cheaper Alternatives. Click "Next" to get started.
