Newcastle Transfers: Berahino Deal Off, Cabella Set To Leave Permanently

One out, no more in?

In the least surprising development of transfer deadline day, West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace has confirmed once more that Saido Berahino isn't for sale at any price, as reported by Sky Sports News HQ. Obviously there is still time before the transfer window slams shut at 11pm, but at this stage it would surely take something major for Peace to let his most valuable asset leave to a relegation rival. Sky Sports say Peace is confident that they will not see a drop in valuation for the England forward, even if he continues not to play presumably and they clearly have no financial worries if they're turning down more than £20m for a player who has largely sat on the bench recently. Meanwhile, RMC have confirmed that Marseille are going to follow up their baffling loan acquisition of Sunderland's Steven Fletcher by activating the buyout option in Remy Cabella's loan deal from Newcastle. He has clearly impressed his old club enough to warrant that sort of move, even though he made limited waves as a Newcastle player. With Andros Townsend now signed for the Magpies, Rolando Aarons returning to fitness and the new long term contract for Ayoze Perez he arguably won't be missed. How strange though that Marseille will now potentially line up with a North East flavoured front three of Cabella, Fletcher and Florian Thauvin? Are you happy that Cabella looks set to leave permanently? Share your reactions below in the comments thread.
