Newcastle Transfers: Wass In, But Sissoko Price Set At £20m

One in, another out at St James Park?

Newcastle have apparently asked about Evian utility player Daniel Wass according to the Mail. The Denmark international is able to play right back, left-back or right wing and would replace Davide Santon, who is off to Inter Milan on loan. The 25-year-old has drawn plaudits this season in Ligue 1, scoring eight goals in 21 games and attracting interested from other clubs including Inter Milan (who probably won't need him now that Santon has arrived) and Schalke. He presumably wouldn't cost much if Newcastle are looking at him. Meanwhile, Newcastle fans should probably brace themselves for a few hours of rumours concerning the future of Moussa Sissoko. The French midfielder has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the North East after some impressive displays this season, but Newcastle have all but admitted that though they are difficult sellers, they would sell if the price was right. The right price, according to the Mail is set at "more than £20m" with Arsenal, Liverpool and PSG all said to be interested in testing the club's resolve. None of those clubs would struggle to finance that sort of deal however, so it's bound to be a nervous last 7 hours or so for the Toon Army.
