Newcastle United Transfer News: Tom Heaton Lined Up If Tim Krul Leaves

NUFC will raid already-relegated Burnley for Heaton if Krul is snapped up this summer.

Tim Krul is believed to be contemplating life away from St James' Park and Newcastle United are planning for such an eventuality - by plotting to raid already-relegated Burnley for goalkeeper Tom Heaton. The 29-year-old could be prised away from Lancashire for somewhere in the region of £2 million this summer and he has performed admirably in a side who were always destined to struggle this season. Eight Premier League clean sheets is a decent record for Heaton considering Burnley sit second-bottom of the table with two games still remaining and have already been demoted.
The Sun report that Newcastle will make a £2 million bid for the goalkeeper this summer - regardless of whether or not they too drop into the Championship, because Holland international Krul is pining for a move away from the North East. Former England Under-21 stopper Heaton progressed through the youth ranks at Manchester United before spending time on loan at clubs including Royal Antwerp, Cardiff City and Queens Park Rangers. He then moved to Cardiff permanently in 2012, before spending a season at Bristol City and then joining Burnley in 2013. Newcastle already have three-cap Republic of Ireland international stopper Rob Elliot on their books and they signed 24-year-old Karl Darlow from Nottingham Forest last summer, before loaning him back to the Championship side.
