Newcastle Want Spurs Winger Andros Townsend?

Townsend and Shelvey could join Tyneside revolution?

Newcastle could continue their summer of spending with the purchase of Tottenham Hotspur's Andros Townsend, and are also keen on Swansea City's attacking midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according to the Journal. Townsend is currently out-of-favour at Spurs having made only seven Premier League starts last season, but has attracted the attention of Magpies manager Alan Pardew, who is looking to bring in more players with domestic experience. Pardew has already brought in Jack Colback from Sunderland and is also keen on Swansea City midfielder Shelvey, rated at around £8 million by the Welsh club. The former Liverpool man had a superb first season at the Liberty Stadium last term, and could be seen as the long-term replacement for Yohan Cabaye, who left for PSG earlier this year. Townsend too appeals, and Pardew may see the 23-year-old English international as a useful attacking option next season after Loic Remy moved back to parent club Queens Park Rangers following the conclusion of his loan agreement. Newcastle owner Mike Ashley appears happy to give Pardew the funds he needs to sign his prime targets, with the north east club already signing Ayoze Pérez, Jack Colback, Siem de Jong, Remy Cabella, Emmanuel Rivière and Daryl Janmaat.
