The Magpies have a date with destiny - but how do they usually do on the final day?

Newcastle United's Premier League future hangs by a thread. Should they fail to win on Sunday against West Ham United - they have not been victorious since they beat Aston Villa 1-0 back on February 28th, losing nine of their last 10 matches - then the Magpies could be relegated. Hull City, who host Manchester United, could capitalise if Newcastle fail to win and send them down into the Championship alongside Queens Park Rangers and Burnley. However, should Newcastle do the unthinkable and actually manage to claim all three points from a match for the first time in almost three months, then there would absolutely nothing the Tigers could do about it - the Magpies would be safe. There are many omens that suggest Newcastle have plenty to fear going into Sunday's encounter, and a repeat of the 2008-09 season - the last time the Magpies were relegated - could well be on the cards.
