Newcastle's Siem De Jong Out Injured For 4 Months?

Newcastle's new signing faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Newcastle United's new signing Siem de Jong is facing up to FOUR MONTHS on the sidelines after suffering a serious groin tear during training, according to the Mirror. De Jong only joined the Magpies from Ajax this July and his debut campaign in England looks like it's been wrecked before it's barely started. The Magpies paid Ajax £5 million for the striker's signature this summer, but he will now have to undergo tests to ascertain the extent of the injury amid fears he could be out until Christmas. His club are reported to have delayed the tests while the injury eases, and with the summer transfer window now closed, this set-back will come as a hammer blow to manager Alan Pardew. Pardew missed out on Loic Remy this summer after failing to make his loan-stay in the north east permanent and opted not to pursue any more striking options in the window that has just closed. The market shut for business on Monday this week and Newcastle may have to make do with rooky Ayoze Pérez and fellow new signing Emmanuel Rivière until January. Pardew's injury nightmare has been further compounded by the fact Papiss Cissé is currently crocked with a knee injury, and isn't due back until the middle of the month. De Jong, brother of last season€™s on-loan flop Luuk, spent seven years at Dutch giants Ajax and has established himself as a natural goalscorer over the last few years.
