NUFC Will Still Have John Carver In Charge Next Season Believes Tony Pulis

The West Brom boss expects Mike Ashley to stick with the interim head coach - despite his win ratio.

Tony Pulis believes he knows exactly who will be in charge at St James' Park next season - and, unfortunately for the majority of Newcastle United fans, it is the man who currently occupies the Magpies dugout. West Bromwich Albion boss Pulis fully expects Mike Ashley to prove that he is "loyal" to his employees by giving John Carver the head coach's role on a permanent basis - despite the Magpies interim head coach having won just two out of 18 games in charge. Carver eventually ended Newcastle's eight-match losing run by securing a 1-1 draw against Pulis' Baggies last weekend, but the Magpies are still just two points above the relegation zone with two Premier League matches remaining.
Interestingly, Pulis was widely tipped to take over on Tyneside when Alan Pardew left for Crystal Palace at the beginning of the year but the former Stoke City boss instead opted for stability at The Hawthorns. And now he believes Ashley and Newcastle managing director Lee Charnley will aim for continuity in the North East by giving Carver the job on a long-term basis.
Speaking after Saturday's game, in which Newcastle's Ayoze Perez cancelled out Victor Anichebe's opener, Pulis said of the Magpies' managerial situation:
"I don't think there'll be any change at this football club. "I think Mike Ashley is very loyal to the people he appoints, and although I don't know the politics around the place, the one thing he has done is to stick with his managers."
Pulis also stated that he disagreed with the way Newcastle was being run right now, and that the Magpies must return to being an "enormous club". He continued:
"This is an enormous club, but it has to get back to being an enormous club. "The only way to do that is to put a team on the pitch which can compete with other enormous clubs."
