Pep's Guardiola's Conundrum: How To Take Bayern Munich To The Next Level?

mario gotze This all leads to personnel. We already know that Pep will be stealing away Dortmund's crown jewel, Mario Götze, in the summer, but how will this impact the rest of the squad. Götze is an undoubted talent, that will only improve the squad. The question remains though, where to fit him in? Some would argue that Kroos was Bayern's best player this season before his injury, that Mueller has been in scintillating form, and that the Franco-Dutch combination of Robben and Ribéry was instrumental in Bayern's European glory. It is clear that Bayern's attacking options already create the managers prized 'selection headache', but by adding another similar player, means that surely someone will have to make room. Robben or Ribéry appeared to be in line to be replaced, but with their performances, it's hard to argue they shouldn't be the first names on the team-sheet, especially with their new found work ethic. Götze will most likely not be the only recruit Bayern pick up this summer, with Bayern heavily linked with Götze's Dortmund teammate, Robert Lewandowski. If the Dortmund frontman arrives at the Allianz, it would almost certainly spell the end of Gomez's time at Bayern, but with what Mario Mandzukic has done this season, the Pol may have some serious competition. Even after Pep brings in his chosen players, the task of implementing his style on the previous squad will be a big task. There is no doubt that these players have the ability to adapt, but why should they change something that has given them so much success. Adapting to a new style with some new players is not the only issue though. How can Pep improve on something thats already won all it can? Well for starters he can do it again. It is often said that repeating is one of the hardest things to do in sports, because it is so easy to lose focus, but this is something that may actually favour the incoming boss. A new manager will create a sense of a new beginning in which they will have to do it all over again, something that will help the players refocus after this seasons exploits. Pep's ultimate task is not to create a winning team, because that's already been achieved, but rather to create a dynasty. Everything is in place for him to kick on with Bayern, and for them to continue to dominate the football world. Bayern fans will be hoping for Pep to rekindle his control over football like he did in 2008-2011 with Barcelona. Will he get it right and create one the worlds best ever teams? Or will he upset the winning formula? Only time will tell.
