Premier League: 5 English Players Better Suited To Foreign Leagues

5. Gareth Barry (Everton)

A player who on his day is vital to his side, but one who also has a lot of below par performances which have led to the loss of his place in the England national team is Gareth Barry. Before his move to Manchester City in 2009 Barry was heavily rumoured to be close to a move to the more European style sides of Arsenal and Liverpool, but City stole a march on their rivals and snapped him up for £12 million from Aston Villa. The midfielder's less flashy style of passing has led to many fans believing him to be a useless part of the team, but his ability to win the ball and quickly transfer a defensive move into an immediate attacking move has been highlighted once more in his short time at Everton. Whilst his England place is still not certain, his loan move to Everton will surely help his case with regular first team football. Now 32-years-old, the former Villa man has probably missed his chance to impress enough for a move to a foreign club, but a few years ago it could easily have been thought of.
