Each year, a couple of unexpected names find themselves standing shoulder to shoulder with more lauded peers among the top goal scorers of the season who would have thought Jay Rodriguez would be one of the deadliest strikers in 2013/14? but a few usual suspects tend to crop up year on year. However, Premier League clubs have just set a new record for total expenditure in a transfer window as increased TV revenues have given even the smaller clubs the opportunity to flex some financial muscle, so expect some new faces to be in contention this time round. Last year's top scorer, the mercurial menace Luis Suárez, managed to score 31 goals despite being banned for the first five league matches and while that target will be tough for anyone to match, his move to Barcelona means that someone else will be taking home the Golden Boot this season.
