With the brand new season a mere 10 days away, What Culture! predicts which four teams will make up those much coveted Champions League places, and who may miss out.
Last season, Manchester City won their first title since 1968 in one of the most dramatic final days of the league in memory, prevailing only on goal difference over neighbors and serial title winners Manchester United, who had to make do for second. Arsenal took third, in spite of team captain Robin van Persie’s heroic goal tally for the season, whilst Tottenham finished fourth, and still failed to qualify for the Champions League due to Chelsea winning the competition whilst finishing outside the top four.
But will it be more of the same next season? Can Man City, with their expensively assembled team of global megastars, win back to back league titles for the first time in their history? Or Will Manchester United gain revenge by claiming a record 20th league title?
Can Chelsea improve on their disappointing finish of sixth last term and get themselves back into the title mix, or will Arsenal win their first league title since 2005?
Can Tottenham improve on fourth place to win their first league title since 1961, or will it be a season of disappointment for new manager Andre Villas Boas?

Don’t be so sure of Man-utd,we’ll see..
Dude,
Why do you think Arsenal will finish 5th? Pathetic reasoning that RVP is leaving and AW will not be able to get through. Arsenal are serious title contenders this season. Midfield is crowded. Carzola is the best around. Wilshere will be fit mid season. Assume December at the max.
About Strikers AW might buy another one after loosing RVP. What if RVP gets injured even by not being sold. RVP is good, the best but Arsenal will not wait for a single player.
I’m not sure about Spurs this year, I think they may have blew their chance last year, time will tell again what happens with the Modric saga. I worry for Arsenal too.
For me I think Newcastle have a good chance of cracking the top 4 this year, they’ve done a superb job of keeping hold of all their players and just added one or two to strengthen the squad depth. They could do with finally signing Debuchy though.
Also, it pains me to say but it could be worth keeping an eye on Liverpool this season, if Rodgers can get the team playing his way then they could become far less toothless than last season. Defence is strong, Joe Allen + Stevie G would be a formidable midfield combo and Suarez is always dangerous. Luckily, they still have Downing and Henderson to drag the team down a quality level. Phew.
Interesting choice. I have not seen much of a beefing up of last year’s Man U team – thus I think in the more competitive upcoming season – Man U will struggle. Arsenal will come in with some force – but the question is do they have the depth. Spurs – not likely to be in the top 5 – Newcastle with their improved forward lineup will give everyone a run for the money. I think the order will be more like 1st Chelsea – 2nd Man City – Third – Arsenal – 4th Man U – 5th – Newcastle !!!
Spuds to finish above the arse. You’re having a laugh. St Totteringhams day will one again be celebrated in the red half of N.London
arsenal will always be good atleast in england. They made good signings this year and will certainly be in the top four. As for chealsea i dont see them finishing among the top fur this season for anybody to expect that is to take luck too far. Man utd problem last year as far as the leaque is concerned is from the midfield and defence and other kagawa coming iam yet to be convinced about their ability to lift the title this year. Vidic, evra and rio are too old to cope and smalling is too small as a realiable replacement jones is mistake prone and the former blackburn chap is injury prone. Sir alex must come to terms with reality and spend as mad as any other wise he will never lift anything again for his remaining days in a managerial capacity.
I definitely think arsenal will do well here but the real contention for the title is gonna be between the two Manchester clubs. United are experienced at winning games with weak squads, so they dont need much beefing up and honestly rvp would be a good signing on a short term basis till welbeck and chicha become world class players. Man city will be consistent if Yaya and silva continue their amazing play. Chelsea are shaky in the young player department but oscar is sure to be a hit and i think they could come 2nd or 3rd.
