Being a goalkeeper can sometimes be a thankless profession, particularly when asked to provide the last line of defence to a back four with the fortified presence of a bowl of cold custard. Newcastle, like most other clubs, have suffered with a mixed bag of shot-stoppers in the Premier League era, it will come as a surprise that just nine men have guarded the net for us in 20-years as a top fight club. Some have excelled between the sticks at St James' Park, going on to be considered legends and earning our never-ending respect, while others were instantly deleted from our internal memory the day they swapped their allegiances and will provide an unwelcome jab of nostalgia along replays of their calamitous spell on Tyneside. And thus, I've endeavoured to seek out all nine, even the obscure foreign names and lost relics from our early days in England's top division, and rank them from best to worst....
