Real Madrid & Arsenal Lead Race For Serie A Star

Arsenal & Real Madrid lead the race for Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam.

Real Madrid are reportedly battling with Arsene Wenger's Arsenal for Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam, according to Eurosport. New Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez is keen to bolster his squad ready for the La Liga season, and Ghoulam has emerged as a possible target. However, they are going to have to beat the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United for the 24-year-old's signature. The Algerian international featured 42 times for club and country last term, and helped Napoli to a fifth placed Serie A finish. The former Saint-Etienne man only arrived in Italy in January 2014, but a string of superb performances over the last year-and-a-half has well and truly put the full-back in the shop window. With the rumours of long-serving defender Sergio Ramos looking to leave the Bernabeu Stadium this summer getting stronger, the Madrid boss could look to add Faouzi Ghoulam to strengthen his defence. Benitez's former side Napoli have slapped an £11m price tag on their star defender, after attracting an enormous amount of interest since last season drew to a close. After failing to win La Liga for the last three years, the Real Madrid supporters want to see their new manager build a squad capable to beat arch rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid to the title next term.
