Real Madrid are ready to battle Premier League side Manchester City for Paris Saint-Germain's highly-rated centre-back Marquinhos, according to talkSPORT. Madrid, who are also reportedly interested in Juventus' Leonardo Bonucci, are already looking at potential replacements for Sergio Ramos. The Spain international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bernabeu Stadium, with Manchester United being his most likely destination. Now, reports coming from talkSPORT suggest that new Los Blancos boss Rafael Benitez is monitoring the situation of the PSG's Brazilian defender Marquinhos. Manchester City have reportedly been long-term admirers of the 21-year-old, after showing interest in him during his Roma days. Barcelona also reportedly enquired about him last year. The Brazil international, who made the switch to Ligue 1 in the summer of 2013, has made a total of 63 appearances in all competitions for the French club since joining. Benitez is wasting little time in seeking out potential Ramos replacements. Bonucci and Marquinhos would both be more than suitable alternatives to the Spaniard, and Madrid would certainly have the funds available if Ramos' move to Old Trafford does indeed go through. Los Merengues will be hoping to build a team ready to take the title away from Barcelona next term. However, last year's La Liga champions are also expected to spend big in the summer.
