Real Sociedad 0-0 Man Utd: Red Devils Finish With 10-Men As Sociedad Hold Them To A Draw

Real Sociedad and 10-man Manchester United both take a point from a game neither really did enough to warrant winning. Both sides exchanged half-chances in the first-half but not enough to break the deadlock. Manchester United's Shinji Kagawa came close, but saw his shot deflected wide, while the hosts failed to create any clear-cut chances in the first 45 minutes. In the second-half Javier Hernandez had a glorious opportunity to put the visitors ahead, but the Mexican hit his shot over the bar from inside the six-yard box. United made two changes in the second-half, and the substitutes both linked up well which almost led to a goal for the away side. Robin Van Persie hit the woodwork after steering Ashley Young's cross goal wards. Manchester United were awarded a penalty with around 20 minutes of normal time remaining. Ashley Young was adjudged to have been fouled in the area, but Van Persie missed the resulting spot kick - once again hitting the woodwork. It got worse for the away side as Marouane Fellaini was given a second yellow card late on. Both sides were lacking during the 90 minutes, and United manager David Moyes may well question how his side couldn't find the breakthrough after missing two goalscoring opportunities in the second-half.
