Ronda Rousey And Iko Uwais To Star In Action Film, Mile 22

UFC Woman's Champion and The Raid stars to team-up.

Actual athletes and sporting fighters can make for great action movie stars, from Bruce Lee through to Gina Carano. Two of the better big-screen action performers to surface in recent years are Ronda Rousey, who was a touch underused in The Expendables 3, and Iko Uwais, who crossed over to great effect in The Raid and Raid 2. The prospect of seeing both Rousey and Uwais jumping to it in the same film is promising, not least because they'll bring different, yet complementary combat styles. Variety say they'll be teaming up for Mile 22, the story of "a CIA field officer and an Indonesian police officer forced to work together," much like all partners in these films are always forced into it. Peter Berg is attached to produce the film, but no director has been named. Hopefully it will be somebody smart enough to also tap Uwais' skills for some fight choreography. Note that the same Variety story refers to Uwais' role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens as "significant." Which hopefully means it's an actual character and not just some blaster fodder. Now, I've got no idea why the film would be called Mile 22. Maybe somebody liked the name of the film locations agency, who call themselves Mile 22 because "most of our properties are 22 miles from the center of the Studio Zone." There's no clue yet as to when Mile 22 will go into production let alone reach our screens, but I shall be looking forward to it nonetheless
