Tottenham Hotspur Football Club defender Jan Vertonghen knocked a young fan clean out while training with the Belgium national squad in Neerpede, Anderlecht in his homeland today. The youngster was enjoying watching her heroes preparing for Thursday's friendly against Australia when former Ajax man Vertonghen sliced a shot that hit her square in the face and temporarily knocked her unconscious. She received the necessary care from local medics, but was fitted with a neck brace and given ice to minimise the potential swelling. Belgian football journalist Kristoff Terreur uploaded this image to Twitter, which shows the talented centre-back looking extremely concerned and guilty about the wayward strike: Vertonghen will already have enough on his mind following his club's 0-3 home defeat to Liverpool at the weekend and this will sure only have made matters worse! Fortunately for the Belgian, the young fan looks as if she will make a full recovery and he can now focus on his country's first match since their World Cup quarter final elimination at the hands of Argentina!
