Spurs News: Ryan Fredericks Joins Boro On Loan

The young right-sided player heads to the North East.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club's promising young right back Ryan Fredericks has joined Championship side Middlesbrough on loan. The 21-year-old - who can also play on the right side of midfield - joins Aitor Karanka's Riverside revolution, as the Spanish former Real Madrid Assistant Manager looks to put his stamp on the squad at the North East club. Fredericks signed for Spurs as a youth player in 2008 and has found a first team place hard to come by. He has only appeared four times in total - twice from the start and twice from the bench - all of which came in European competition. It would have been extremely hard for him to make an impression this season, as Spurs have Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton directly ahead of him, while Eric Dier has come in and proven that he is more than capable of covering at right back when Spurs need him to do so, having been forced to switch there during the match at West Ham United and having started there against both AEL Limassol and Queens Park Rangers. Middlesbrough have started this season relatively well, with two wins and two defeats in the league - leaving them sitting in twelfth position at the moment - whilst a 3-1 victory over Preston North End in the Capital One Cup second round has seen them drawn against Liverpool at Anfield in a money-spinning tie for the North East side in round three. Fredericks will add some much-needed speed and quality to the side and Karanka will be hoping he can help to push the team up the table and help his team launch a shock promotion assault. Do you think Fredericks is a good signing for Middlesbrough? Do Spurs fans think it's a good move for him? Or is he actually ready for Premier League action?
