Spurs News: Vlad Chiriches Confident Ahead Of Sunderland Clash

The Romanian defender believes Spurs will return to winning ways on Saturday.

Spurs defender Vlad Chiriches is confident that his side will pick up all three points when they visit the Stadium of Light to face Gus Poyet's Sunderland on Saturday. The Romanian told Spurs' official website that, although it won't be easy, he believes the Lilywhites are more than capable of picking up the victory and expects to do so in order to bounce back from the 3-0 loss at home to Liverpool last time out. He had this to say on the matter:
We need to get back on track after Liverpool and I think we can do it. It will be tough, it usually is away from home, but I hope we will be better and win this game. I certainly believe we have the quality to win it.
Spurs had won their first two Premier League matches - against West Ham and Queens Park Rangers - prior to the Liverpool game, while Sunderland have drawn against West Bromwich Albion and Manchester United and lost against Queens Park Rangers. Spurs did the double over the Black Cats last season and Chiriches - who was injured for the 2-1 victory at the Stadium of Light in December - was in the team that won 5-1 at White Hart Lane in April. In all likelihood, the Romanian centre back won't even play in the match, as he is yet to feature in the Premier League this season and Federico Fazio will be coming in to add more competition, but he will be keen to impress in training and in the Europa League in order to make an impression on the Premier League this year.
