Spurs Transfer News: Real Madrid Need To Pay £60 Million For Gareth Bale

Spurs to tell Real Madrid: "Bale will cost you £60m"

Mirror. Real have swooped for Spur's top players in the past, when they captured Luka Modric in August this year. They do not want a repeat of that prolonged transfer deal however, as the Croatian midfielder's "will he won't he" saga ended in a bit of a pantomime. The La Liga side are believed to have lined up a £33million offer for Bale, but that obviously falls far short of Levy's valuation. If that's the case, Real could offer a number of their players as part-exchange to sweeten the deal - left-back Fabio Coentrao has been a long-term transfer target for Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas, and he might find himself involved in any offer for Bale. In spite of Tottenham's bullish stance that Bale is not for sale, Real usually get their man. Not only did they take Luka Modric away from White Hart Lane when Levy insisted then that he was not for sale, but they also captured Cristiano Ronaldo from Man United when boss Sir Alex Ferguson made similar claims. However, Bale signed a new four-year contract in June, which will certainly put Levy in a strong negotiating position.
