Spurs Transfer News: Real Madrid Preparing £85 Million Gareth Bale Bid

Sunday Times, Real Madrid are preparing a record breaking £85 million bid for Tottenham winger, Gareth Bale. Bale, 23, is on top of the Spanish giants wanted list along side Liverpool€™s Luis Suarez, who is subject to a £40 million bid. Gareth Bale has dominated English football this season scooping the PFA Young Player of the Year and the PFA Player of the Year as well as netting 21 Premier League goals for Spurs. Bale lit up White Hate Lane on several occasion throughout the season and almost guided them to a top four finish. Recruiting the Welshman to the Bernabeu would mean whoever takes over as Real Madrid boss they will have another great addition to their strikeforce. Bale is being seen as a player who can help Madrid overcome Barcelona and win La Liga once more. Spurs were adamant that a £60 million bid for Bale would not tempt them to sell their star-man but after Madrid bumped the bid up to £85 million, it is unclear whether Spurs could reject a fee of that kind of money. This isn€™t the first time that the Spanish giants have tried to force Tottenham into selling a key player with Madrid eventually securing Luka Modric for £30 million last summer. The likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have both been interested in Bale but a bid of £85 million from Real Madrid will likely blow other teams out of the water. The most expensive transfer in history was Cristaino Ronaldo to Real Madrid from Manchester United for £80 million.
