Spurs Transfer News: Salomon Kalou Set For Tottenham Talks

Tottenham Hotspur are to hold talks with Lille and former Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou over a possible transfer to White Hart Lane. Friday's Daily Mail reports that Ivory Coast international Kalou, 28, is a £2.6 million target for Spurs head coach Tim Sherwood. The player is heading to London to begin negotiations as a fee has yet to be agreed. Kalou spent six years at Stamford Bridge between 2006 and 2012, winning seven major trophies including the Premier League, four FA Cups and the Champions League. He scored 60 goals in 251 matches for the Blues. After lifting the European Cup under Roberto Di Matteo, Kalou moved to Ligue 1 outfit Lille on a free transfer. Last season he hit 16 goals in all competitions, 14 of which came in the French league. Kalou began his club career in the Dutch Eredivisie with Feyenoord and has been to five major international tournaments with the Ivory Coast. Injuries permitting, that will become six this summer as the African side will play at the World Cup in Brazil. Hotspur are losing Jermain Defoe to MLS franchise Toronto at the end of February. His imminent exit from North London leaves Emmanuel Adebayor and summer signing Roberto Soldado as the only senior strikers on the books at the Lane.
