Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham In Talks Over Erik Lamela Deal?

Tottenham are set to undergo talks with Roma today over a potential deal for Erik Lamela, according to Italian newspaper Football Italia. Spurs are reportedly willing to part with as much as ‚35 million (£29 million) to land the 21-year-old forward. The Argentina international's father, Jose Lamela, and agent Pablo Sebbag are expected to meet with Spurs's technical director Franco Baldini, who is playing a big part in negotiations having previously worked as director general at Roma. Tottenham are prepared to offer the starlet a four-year contract worth ‚4 million-a-season in order to convince him to move to White Hart Lane this summer. Lamela, who operates as a left-sided attacker, made another big-money move that belies his years only two seasons ago when he switched River Plate for Roma in an estimated ‚17 million deal. The exciting prospect has already scored 19 Serie A goals in 62 appearances for the Giallorossi since his arrival at the Stadio Olimpico, 15 of which were scored last season - his most prolific to date. And that has convinced Spurs to make a move, with Roma's sporting director Walter Sabatini due in London shortly. Lamela would become the second Roma player to have been sold to a Premier League side this summer, with Pablo Osvaldo making a surprising £15.1 million move to Southampton on Sunday.
