Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham To Hijack Liverpool's £26 Million Willian Bid?

Mirror. The Reds had agreed terms with the 25-year-old's club Anzhi Makhachkala over a move, and were thought to have been confident about securing the deal. However, they have so far failed to agree a fee with Anzhi, who are being forced into selling their prized assets due to the Russian club's financial problems. Anzhi are holding out for £30 million for Willian while Liverpool have so far only offered £26 million. And Spurs have now indicated to the Russians that they are prepared to gazump their Premier League rivals by improving on the Anfield outfit's offer. The Londoners have a distinct advantage in the battle for the midfielder in that they could potentially offer European football in a World Cup year - if they are victorious in their Europa League play-off against Dinamo Tbilisi. Liverpool's battle with Tottenham for Willian could drag on right until the end of the transfer window on September 2, with the Reds determined not to give up on the Brazil international. But Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is a big fan, and tried to sign the player during his Chelsea days.
