Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham "Working On A Deal" To Sign Etienne Capoue

BBC. The 24-year-old is expected to sign for Spurs for a fee in the region of £9 million, according to reports. Toulouse president Olivier Sadran has openly admitted that the player is set for the switch to North London, telling L'Equipe: "He will go there." Capoue, who has won five senior caps for France, can operate both as a defensive midfielder and centre-back, which suits the Lilywhites, who are short of defensive cover presently with Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul recovering from injury. Steven Caulker has also moved to newly-promoted Premier League side Cardiff in a reported £8 million deal, a club-record fee for the Welsh side. Manager Andre Villas-Boas is set to make Capoue his fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Corinthian's midfielder Paulinho, FC Twente winger Nacer Chadli and Spurs's record-signing Roberto Soldado from Valencia. And his arrival could spell the end for veteran midfielder Scott Parker, who has been linked with a move to Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers just two years after signing from West Ham United. Capoue scored seven goals in 34 games for Toulouse last season.
