Spurs Transfer News: Vlad Chiriches To Snub Tottenham?

talkSPORT. Spurs were thought to be on the verge of signing the 23-year-old Romanian until Bucuresti president Gigi Becali vetoed the move at the last minute. Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas needs a new centre-back with Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul recovering from injury, and Steven Caulker being sold to newly-promoted Premier League side Cardiff. The Portuguese boss is still tracking the Steaua man but the £7 million-rated defender is on AC Milan's radar, and Chiriches's agent believes his client would prefer a move to the San Siro. He told Tuttosport:

"The player wants to go to a big club and Italy attracts him."
Spurs could now switch their attentions to Toulouse's Etienne Capoue. The defensive midfielder is attracting the Lilywhites this summer with the BBC reporting that the North London club are working on a deal for the 24-year-old. Capoue can also play as a centre-back, and is valued by the French club in the region of £9 million. The arrival of the France international could spell the end for veteran midfielder Scott Parker, who has been linked with a move to Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers.
