Spurs Transfers: 5 January Signings To Save Andre Villas-Boas' Job

Tottenham Hotspur "should be ashamed of themselves" - words used by manager Andre Villas-Boas yesterday in the aftermath of his side's six-goal humiliation at the hands of Manchester City. Tottenham were ruthlessly dissected on Sunday by a rampant City side who flattened them 6-0 to inflict their heaviest league defeat since the 7-1 loss to Newcastle in December 1996. Jesus Navas and Sergio Aguero were the chief architects of their downfall - the pair scored a brace apiece - while a Sandro own goal and a further finish from Alvaro Negredo completed the rout. The result sent the Lilywhites hurtling down to 9th in the table, with a -3 goal difference, and eight points adrift of London rivals Arsenal in first place. All this has led to supporters calling for Villas-Boas' head with the Spurs chief on the brink at White Hart Lane, and if any future decision is taken to axe him, it won't be because of this game alone. This is Tottenham's second successive loss following the 1-0 reverse to Newcastle, while West Ham inflicted another embarrassment upon his side with a 3-0 win on October 6. But there's still time to stop the rot, and here, we take a look at 5 January Signings To Save Andre Villas-Boas' Job.
