Spurs Transfers: 5 January Signings To Save Their Season

Tottenham lurched to yet another defeat last night as they were dumped out of the Capital One Cup by West Ham and crashed to back-to-back losses at White Hart Lane. Caretaker Tim Sherwood took charge of the Lilywhites for the first time since Andre Villas-Boas' sacking but even a change in management has failed to stop the rot as Spurs slumped to new lows. Their demoralising exit from the League Cup comes hot off the heels of dire Premier League form, having earlier been thrashed 5-0 and 6-0 by Liverpool and Manchester City. And, as we approach the New Year, a top four finish in the league is looking increasingly unobtainable, as the battered, managerless outfit try to salvage something from their season. It's easy to criticise the recently-sacked Villas-Boas for landing Spurs in this mess, yet £108 million was spent over the summer on new players, very few of which have stepped up to the plate. And it is clear yet more money will need to be spent in next month's transfer window if Tottenham are to get themselves off the ropes and back into contention for silverware. Here, we take a look at 5 January Signings To Save Tottenham's Season.
