Spurs Transfers: 5 Realistic Striking Options To Guarantee Goals Next Season

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have had a very underwhelming season - even by their recent standards - and after spending so much on new players last summer it has been particularly disappointing (even when you bear in mind the high profile sale of Gareth Bale). One of the biggest problems this season has been scoring goals. Roberto Soldado, who was signed with the intention that he would become the club's much needed twenty-goals-a-season striker, simply hasn't been hitting the form required and goals haven't been coming from elsewhere on the pitch either. Emmanuel Adebayor's return to the first team brought with it something of an increase in goalscoring, but the current Premier League record of the club stands at 40 goals in 32 games (giving them a rather terrible goal difference of -4). Compare that to Liverpool's 90 in 33, Manchester City's 84 in 31 and Chelsea's 65 in 33 and you can see that Spurs have a massive problem. Although Spurs have plenty of money to spend, the fact they they look very unlikely to qualify for the Champion's League again makes signing world class players something of a difficulty - but it's not all doom and gloom. There are some great strikers out there who are still realistic options for the White Hart Lane club. With that in mind, here are five players who Spurs could realistically sign to guarantee more goals next season...

Honourable Mention: Danny Ings

Danny Ings would be a great signing for any Premier League club - and he would definitely jump at the chance to join one as big as Spurs - but he only gets an honourable mention here as he might not be ready to immediately make an impact in the top flight. The 22 year old, who was signed by Burnley from AFC Bournemouth in 2011, has scored 20 league goals in the Championship this season and has been linked with a number of top clubs - including Spurs - but he is untested at the top level and may need a season to adjust before making a real impact. The youngster has bags of potential and would come as useful backup at first, but there's no guarantee his goals would come immediately. And now on to the actual list...
