Spurs Transfers: Tottenham Favourites To Sign Benteke, Schneiderlin & Bony

Pochettino needs strikers, and he's favourite to pick up two big ones.

As Mauricio Pochettino looks ahead to this week's season opener, he might be forgiven for thinking he should have replaced misfiring Roberto Soldado and brought in more options up front to bolster Spurs' attempts to push into the top four this season. That neither Adebayor or Soldado have yet left - despite interest in both - will not be deemed a mistake if the new manager can get the best out of the former, and remind the latter how he scored so many goals with Atletico Madrid, but the failure to sign reinforcements might prove a problem come season's end. At the minute, aside from those two, Spurs can only rely on Harry Kane - who is very much not the finished article - and Jonathan Obika - who seems mostly unfancied. If either Soldado or Adebayor is unavailable, or isn't up to the task in the former's probable case, the choices wouldn't fill anyone with confidence. That's probably why Skybet have Tottenham as favourites to sign Christian Benteke before September 2nd (at 2/1) as well as Wilfried Bony (at 11/80). Both would likely cost around £20m, though both manage the magic goal a game figure most Premier League strikers dream of, and Spurs would do well to add either to their front-line before the end of the window. Meanwhile, despite his club's apparent refusal to sell him, Morgan Schneiderlin is also a short favourite to join Spurs at 1/8, with Arsenal in second place as long as 8/1. The message from that is clearly that punters are happy to still bet on him heading to White Hart Lane, which might be based on Southampton's willingness to sell at the right price. Quite how much that would be remains to be seen - and whether he would be affordable for a club who spent so much last season also does. Do you think Spurs should go out to sign all three players?
