Stoke Transfers: Potters Pull Off Sensational Bojan Signing

Former wonderkid signs four year deal.

Nothing is certain in football apart from the astonishing capacity for shocks that come every time the transfer windows open, and it looks like Stoke have made a strong play for the oddest, and potentially most brilliant signing of the summer period, after confirming that they've taken Spanish attacker Bojan Krkic from Barcelona. Ten days ago it had been suggested that the player was about to join on loan, following on from his temporary spell with Ajax last season, where he scored 5 goals in 32 games, but Stoke's confirmation states that Bojan has signed permanently for Mark Hughes' side. https://twitter.com/stokecity/status/491632626986659841 Bojan is unlikely to score a lot of goals for the club - though he did manage 26 in just over 100 league goals for Barcelona over four years, but he has the skills that could put Stoke's stereotypical image as an overly physical, anti-footballing side to bed, if he can adapt to the physical rigours of the Premier League. Clearly, he will need some protection for the first few months of his stint. Stoke have spent the summer rebuilding the squad after an impressive ninth place finish in the Premier League, and have already completed the signings of Mame Biram Diouf, Steve Sidwell, Phil Bardsley and Dionatan Teixeira ahead of the August opener. Quite how Bojan fits in with the Premier League remains to be seen, but he has impressive pedigree, is only 23, and he certainly has the kind of spark that could help turn Stoke into an unlikely European contender.
