Sunderland Transfer News: Black Cats Warned Off Bastian Oczipka

Bastian Oczipka Sunderland have been told to forget about signing Eintracht Frankfurt defender, Bastian Oczipka, after making an initial enquiry. The 24-year-old impressed many scouts last season, after moving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2012, and it appears that the Black Cats have been the first to make a move. Sky Sports reported that the Wearside club had contacted the Bundesliga outfit to discover the availability of Oczipka's services, but the conversation was soon ended. Sky's source in Germany said, "There was a direct phone call between both clubs, Sunderland made an enquiry but Frankfurt are not open to sell." The full-back impressed in Germany last season, helping his new side finish 6th in the German top flight, and Sky sources also understand that Joachim Loew is thought to be considering Oczipka for the German national side. With the World Cup looming and Germany close to securing qualification, Loew is already thought to be looking for new options to enhance his sides chances at the competition. The Premier League is a move that does interest the young defender and the move could help Oczipka get onto to the pane to Rio. The source continued, "The Premier League is always interesting. Sunderland would be a reasonable step for him."
