So much for it not being down to the player. If Gus Poyet was to be believed a couple of weeks ago, the hold-up in the proposed move for Fabio Borini was nothing to do with the player himself. The manager didn't expand on that, but you have to suspect it wasn't because Liverpool didn't want to sell to a divisional rival... It must come as something of a surprise then that Borini is now on his way to talk to QPR over a proposed move, after apparently ignoring Sunderland's attempts to sign him. Rangers have been in the market for a striker since the departure of Loic Remy, and the Italian would represent a good, experienced option. According to SkySports' Gary Cotterill, a fee has been agreed between Queens Park Rangers and Liverpool for his services. Liverpool only paid £10.5 million to bring the former Chelsea player in from Roma and QPR would be paying £10 million with add-ons of up to £3 million, making it a tidy deal for Liverpool. Considering he has very publicly been labelled surplus to requirements, and hasn't made much progress since signing, the protection of the investment is remarkably good work by Liverpool's transfer men. The player will now begin talks over personal terms.
