Udinese In Bidding War For Premier League Flop

Serie A club will face stiff competition though for the former Fulham man...

Udinese will have to fight off interest from several European teams if they are to win the race for Fulham striker Kostas Mitroglou, according to Italian reports. The Greek international is at the centre of a bidding war with the Italian side facing stiff competition from Turkish giants Fenerbache, who are lining up a move for the forward, according to a Football Italia report. If Udinese are to bring the in-demand player to Italy they will have to match the Turkish giants ‚2 million wage offer.
Mitoglou recently spent time back in his Greek homeland, having enjoyed a successful season-long loan that saw the 27-year-old notch 19 goals in 34 appearances for Superleague champions Olympiacos, including the winner in a 3-2 win against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League group stage. That statistic is in stark contrast to his record for Championship side Fulham though, where the London club's record transfer only made three Premier League appearances in their relegation season, failing to hit the back of the net. The £12 million man was brought in by then Cottagers manager Felix Magath to help keep the club from losing its place in the top flight, however, due to injuries and fitness problems, the striker barely featured. Fellow Serie A outfit Sassuolo are linked with the Greek's signature, however, it is likely that they will be priced out by their rivals with only a permanent move the only offer on the cards.
