UFC on Fox 5: Preview & Predictions - Benson Henderson vs Nate Diaz

Mike "Quick" Swick vs Matt "The Immortal" Brown

Kicking off the card is a fight between Mike Swick (15-4) and Matt Brown (15-11). Pictured above is Mike Swick successful return from his two year lay off. Although he was successful, he didn't look like the Mike Swick we knew. That is understandable because he hadn't fought in more than two years and he was rehabilitating major injuries. In the first round he was badly rocked after getting hit with a hard punch, then he was nearly submitted by a D'arce choke. He rebounded in the second by catching DeMarques Johnson's kick, taking him down with it, and then landing a brutal punch to his chin as he hit the ground to finish him off. It wasn't the Swick we were used to, but it was good enough to get him the win. Matt Brown truly is Immortal, not because he can't be finished, but because he will never be fired. No matter how many losses he suffers, he will never be fired from the UFC. Brown has saved a lot of fight by stepping in as a late replacement. He has earned the respect of Dana White and Joe Silva and the fans for his blue collar work ethic. Brown is not the most talented fighter, but he may be the hardest working. Brown will be going into this fight on a three fight win streak consisting of a TKO finish over Luis Ramos, a major upset over Stephen Thompson, and a brutal knockout over Chris Cope. Expect a very exciting fight between these two. Brown has the advantage in Boxing and toughness. Swick has the advantage in speed, power, and wrestling. The grappling advantage is a toss up. On paper, Swick seems to have the better ground game as Brown has 9 submission losses. But Brown has improved his grappling considerably in his past few fights. That was evident in his fight with Stephen Thompson. I'm still giving the advantage in grappling to Swick though. Now Brown could knocked Swick out as we have seen Swick can be rocked in the past. I believe Swick will be able to mix up his striking and grappling with a bit of brawling on route to a Unanimous decision victory.
