West Brom 0-2 Newcastle: 7 Key Ways The Baggies Were Blunted

1. Daryl Janmaat

Is he going to be the best right-back Newcastle have ever had? Over-excitement would suggest that yes, he's probably the greatest right-back the world has ever seen, but even remaining cool-headed, he looks to have more than filled Mathieu Debuchy's more expensive shoes. Janmaat looks like an absolute steal at the minute: he is strong in the tackle, great in terms of limiting attackers when they run directly towards him, and he has begun to learn more about defending the space behind him (which he wasn't doing earlier in the season). His passing range, and his ability going forward also makes him a huge commodity, and the ball he put in for Coloccini's header - after embarrassing Mulumbu on the turn - was almost as good as a goal itself. The Dutchman has grown into his role in the team hugely in the past few weeks, and he's beginning to look like one of the best transfer moves in a long time.
