West Ham United 1-2 Leicester City - Ranieri's Dream Start As Boss Continues

As things stand the Foxes are top the league...

Leicester City beat 10-man West Ham United 2-1 at Upton Park to hand Claudio Ranieri his second victory in a row as Foxes boss. Ranieri's men have a 100% record from their opening two Barclays Premier League matches of the season, and claimed all three points in east London thanks to goals from Shinji Okazaki and Riyad Mahrez. Dimitri Payet did score a consolation for the home side, but goalkeeper Adrian was dismissed for a challenge on Jamie Vardy late on. Strangely though, it was the home side who started the brighter at the Boleyn Ground, with Diafra Sakho hitting the bar after meeting Dimitri Payet's free-kick with his head. Then, after Mahrez was denied by a decent Adrian save, the Hammers goalkeeper then did magnificently to keep out a spectacular overhead-kick from Robert Huth. Finally though, in the 27th minute, Leicester scored. Vardy attacked down the left, whipped a ball in, and Okazaki headed in at the second attempt. Bizarrely, the pair also celebrated together, despite Vardy's alleged racist slur made about Japanese people in a video earlier this month. It was Marc Albrighton who was the architect of Leicester's second goal. After a neat one-two with Okazaki, he delivered a delicious ball for Mahrez to smash home. With Foxes fans singing "We are top of the league" at the top of their voices, they were only silence when Payet pulled a goal back in the 55th minute. Cheikhou Kouyate fed the summer signing, and Payet fired an unstoppable effort past Kasper Schmeichel. Unfortunately for West Ham though, despite their constant pressing, they failed to find a leveller. Instead, their misery was compounded in injury-time when Adrian saw red. The Spanish goalkeeper attempted to jump and claim a long ball after heading up for a corner late on, but he only managed to kick Vardy in the chest and was given his marching orders by Anthony Taylor. This was certainly a day to forget for the Hammers.
