Who Is In The North East's Worst Team Of The Season?

Those Newcastle & Sunderland players who have disgraced their club's shirts this season...

What a time to be a supporter of North East football. Both of the region's main teams find themselves in the doldrums of The Premier League while Middlesbrough haven't been seen in England's top flight for more than six years now. But as shoots of hope are springing eternally on Teesside as a potential promotion campaign nears its conclusion, things couldn't be much different further up the east coast. Sunderland, the perennial relegation firefighters of recent seasons, completed a slightly less miraculous great escape than usual earlier this week with a battling point at Arsenal while Newcastle face a nervy Sunday afternoon as they try and save their top flight bacon. Newcastle have folded like a deck of cards since the appointment of John Carver as Head Coach until the end of the season and find themselves just two points above the drop zone, seemingly praying Hull City lose at home to Manchester Untied. Nothing else looks remotely like saving them. With that in mind, there has been some truly atrocious team performances by both sides over the last nine months and some even worse individual ones. Picking a team of the season from the players that have come out of both respective dog fights with any sort of acclaim would be near impossible. It is far more appropriate to name the worst team of the season, a team that will be adopting a continental 3-5-2 formation. Enjoy. Or endure this team put together by Newcastle United season ticket holder Ross Tweddell and Sunderland season ticket holder Michael Potts...
