Wigan Transfer News: James McClean Signing Confirmed

James McClean Wigan have confirmed James McClean has moved to the Lactics from Sunderland on a 3-year deal in a statement released today. The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland winger made 59 league starts for the Black Cats, netting 7 goals. He previously played in the Republic of Ireland's main league, the League of Ireland, for his home-town club Derry City. He has been capped 12 times for the Republic of Ireland, having previously played for Northern Ireland at U-21 level. The Irishman is Owen Coyle's 10th signing of the summer since the Championship outfit were relegated from the Premier League in mid-May. He'll link up with fellow Irishman James McCarthy, as well as new signings Grant Holt, James Perch, and England international goalkeeper Scott Carson, who've all joined the club this summer It's an impressive array of signings for the Championship side, who will be hoping for a swift return to the top tier of English football, following a comprehensive 4-0 away win at Barnsley on the opening day.
