World Cup 2014: 5 England Players Set To Miss Out On Brazil

Now his England team has secured qualification for the World Cup in Brazil next year, Roy Hodgson is enjoying the opportunity to call up a few new names. Southampton's Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez are set to make their England debuts over the two friendlies at Wembley against Chile and Germany and while the Saints duo will hope to crash the World Cup party, there are plenty of players who must be worried their chances of playing in biggest competition in the world are slipping away. Here are five players that are in danger of missing out on Brazil 2014...

5. Ashley Young - 30 caps, 7 goals

Having made his debut in 2007, it was not until 2011 and the qualification matches for Euro 2012 that Young enjoyed a run of games for his country. Goals against Denmark, Switzerland, Wales, Montenegro and Netherlands in just over a 12 month period seemed to herald the arrival of the Manchester United winger on the international stage. Now, the ex-Watford and Aston Villa player is out of the England squad, out of the Manchester United team, and the only headlines he makes are for his diving. With the emergence Andros Townsend and Hodgson's preference to play a forward coming in from the left flank have reduced Young's opportunities further, and the 28-year-old's international days look to be behind him.
