World Cup 2018: 10 Players Who Don't Deserve To Be Going Home

9. Toni Kroos

It's hard to argue that any of the Germans really deserve to be sticking around for the latter stages of the World Cup, but if any one man did just about do justice for himself at this summer's tournament, it was Toni Kroos.

The Real Madrid midfielder is one of the best players in the game and did all he could to keep his side in with a chance of defending their World Cup title. His most notable contribution, of course, was that stunning free kick in the dying seconds of the game against Sweden, and the statistics show that Kroos was doing a lot of good work all over the pitch.

Time and again, Kroos was attempting shots and trying to set things up for the rest of his team, as well as contributing with good defensive play and trying to keep his squad motivated. He set an example that, sadly for the Germans, his teammates didn't follow.
