Their 2018 African Nations Championship win might mark them as Africa's strongest footballing nation, but Morocco must overcome considerable odds if we're to see Hakim Ziyech more than thrice in Russia. They drew Spain, Portugal, and Iran in the first round. This means they'll likely need to spring at least one major upset to progress, but in Ziyach and teammate Younes Belhanda, Morocco have considerable creative spark.

Once labelled "stupid" by Marco van Basten for choosing Morocco over the Netherlands, Ziyech's inconsistency regularly draws mass criticism from his own fans. Statistically, he is spectacular. Hakim notched 15 assists and 9 goals in 34 Eredivisie games last term, and has hit the back of the net 8 times in just 15 international caps. Starting on Morocco's left side should provide ample opportunities to add to these totals, and he's more than skilled enough to make a mark, but selfishness remains a concern.

Nonetheless, Ziyech is among the most talented African players in the tournament. An unlucky draw and a questionable mindset are the only things holding him back, but if he keeps his head straight, it isn't hard to imagine the 25-year-old going supernova in Russia.
