Wikipedia CommonsWikipedia CommonsThe 2014 World Matchplay Darts in Blackpool is just around the corner with the 32 players ready to battle it out to be crowned champion on the 27th July. With the Premier League of Darts behind us and numerous players beginning to prove themselves, the 21st World Matchplay is set to be one of the most hotly contested yet. Phil Taylor enters the tournament as reigning champion but after a tough year on the big stage his competitors will feel that they have their best chance yet to topple The Power. Gary Anderson has had one of his best seasons in recent years and seems to have put his 'double trouble' behind him, making him a formidable opponent for anyone.
