10 Must-Read Comic Book Christmas Specials

Costumes, cartoonish behaviour and fighting. How perfectly festive.

Christmas is a time for sharing, socialising with those members of your family that you wouldn't dream of associating with throughout the rest of the year and of course, reading comics. There€™s an atmosphere during the holiday season which makes everything seem that bit more magical, especially if it involves costumed super-beings and how they choose to get festive.

As we continue to be dragged kicking and screaming into an age of superhero cinema that won€™t rest until everything becomes a gritty shade of beige, it€™s refreshing to know that the source material still happily ventures into light-hearted lunacy. I think, deep down, we€™d all prefer to see Superman teach General Zod the true meaning of Christmas rather than break his neck in a dirty train station. The main reason to follow comics during this merry month is that they seem to lose all of their narrative inhibitions and go absolutely crazy.

Want to watch Hulk fight a mall Santa? How about turning old St. Nick into an evil robot hell-bent on murdering the Avengers? If you€™re a fan of Christmas and also of stories which make you question whether or not you've finally lost it, the following holiday specials have got you covered true believers.
