15 Greatest Avengers Villains Of All Time

The most fearsome foes Earth's Mightiest Heroes have ever faced.

With the greatest of respect to the Justice League, The Avengers are by far the world's most iconic superhero team (something which has obviously been helped by the fact that they've now starred in two movies which have grossed over $1 billion worldwide). Since being created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the team dubbed "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" have embarked on countless adventures, taking on threats on this planet, alternate realities, and deep into the far reaches of space. Of course, a group with this much history needs some truly great villains to battle it out with in order to keep comic book fans entertained, and that's something they most definitely aren't short of. Not everyone The Avengers have faced is a winner though, but even after taking that into account, it's still hard to pick out the greatest foes they've taken on out of the thousands of baddies who have tried to assert their dominance over this mighty assemblage of superheroes. Even so, here you will find the fifteen greatest Avengers villains. Some are more well known than others, while the inclusion of at least a few is sure to surprise you. However, if one thing's for sure, it's that Marvel Studios needs to get Infinity War over and done with so we can see some of these guys on the big screen sooner rather than later...

15. The Masters Of Evil

The Masters of Evil haven't had a lot of success over the years (hence why they don't place higher here), but the villainous team has come close enough to defeating The Avengers on enough occasions to at least warrant a mention. Everyone from Radioactive Man to Doctor Octopus and Ultron have at one time or another served as part of this group, but one of their biggest successes came fairly early on. That was during a storyline which saw them break into Avengers Mansion and torture Jarvis, Tony Stark's butler and ally to Earth's Mightiest Heroes. They then proceeded to take down each of The Avengers before Captain America and Thor stopped them. It's a shame Marvel Studios has such a habit of killing their villains off, because seeing The Avengers battling this lot on the big screen would be a lot of fun!
