Whether it is the family holiday, a weekend getaway with the partner, a celebratory trip with friends, or more boringly the long distant work commute, flying has become part and parcel of every day life. Over the course of 2014, UK airports saw in excess of 220million passenger journeys - a number which is only set to rise year or year with the continual expansion of airports across the country. While flying represents a convenient and increasingly cost effective way of getting around, for parents it can be a fraught process. The systematic queueing, constant checking of documents, and general occasion overall is only made worse when you're trying to look after not only yourself but the little people you have in tow. To help with the added job of keeping your kids' attention occupied KLM have launched a new character focussed series on their in-flight entertainment system. This character is a young animated aeroplane by the name of Bluey. Bluey is a KLM plane who has only just started out on his career and remains under the watchful eye of his parents, as he navigates the globe visiting a range of wonderful new destinations along the way. There is an innocent presence of mischief in Bluey's personality though, and that coupled with his general thirst for adventure inevitably leads him into a number of shenanigans. The hope of launching this new series alongside a number of initiatives already tied in with creative a positive travelling experience for children, is that it will allow the airline to expand this program in the future. Ultimately to benefit both the kids and also make things a little easier for the parents throughout the whole journey. You can watch one of Bluey's adventures in the video above, and take a look on the KLM website for more details if you're thinking of travelling with kids.
