10 Actors You Won't Believe Were Nearly Cast In Friends

10. Jon Cryer - Chandler

It's not completely impossible to imagine that Jon Cryer might've made a good Chandler Bing had he landed the role, but nobody really wants to imagine that, given that we all love Matthew Perry, and nothin' or nobody is gonna tell us otherwise. Still, in the early '90s, Cryer - who you'll know mostly for his role as Alan in Two and a Half Men, of course - was given a script called "Six of One" (one of the terrible early names for the show) and was asked to come in for an audition. That's to say, the process didn't fare well. Not because Cryer was bad or anything, but because he was in London at the time performing in a play, and was unable to fly to L.A. to audition for the part. Still, they asked him to send an audition tape over, which he did - unfortunately for Cryer (and thankfully for Matthew Perry), the tape didn't make it to Los Angeles in time, and nobody got to see Cryer "doing Chandler." Still, it's interesting to ponder what was on that audition tape, and whether the performance would have been good enough to land him the part.
