8. The Lion And The Rose (Season 4, Episode 2)

Hodor Game Of Thrones
HBO

The Ending: Tyrion hands Joffrey a cup of wine that (unbeknownst to Tyrion or anyone else) has been poisoned. Joffrey chokes violently as his mother and father approach him, and Dontos Hollard sneaks Sansa away from from the scene. As Joffrey dies in his mother's arms, an angry Cersei, believing Tyrion to have killed him, has Tyrion arrested.

Why It's Great: You have to hand it to Jack Gleeson. His portrayal of Joffrey was so great, because he played such a despicable character he had viewers the world over united in the hatred of his character. After three seasons of Joffrey's wrath, many were hoping, praying he would die. But we didn't expect it to happen so soon.

And while it was great seeing him get what was coming to him, you almost feel bad for him thanks to Lena Heady's powerful acting as a grieving mother. But then you remember all the horrible things he's done so, of course, start celebrating again.
