With Halloween approaching, one of the best ways to get into the holiday spirit is to watch scary movies. What if you don't want to see anything that scary, though, but you still want to feel festive and have fun with spooky imagery and cool costumes? In that case, look no further than some of the best Halloween specials of your favorite TV shows.

Most long running shows have had at least one Halloween episode, although it's not quite as common as the Christmas special. Traditionally these episodes will involve the leads throwing a party, in which case it becomes a game of figuring out who everyone is dressed as. Other times the writers go further than that, straying from the series' usual mold to tell a horror story that just happens to use the same characters, as The Simpsons does every year.

Either way, rewatching one of these feels like hanging out with your friends at the best Halloween party ever, except in this case, you can do it from the comfort of your home in 22 minutes. Just like you might throw on A Christmas Story leading up to Christmas, these 10 Halloween episodes deserve to be revisited throughout October.

10. Meet 'N Greet - Parks And Recreation

Parks And Recreation's Halloween episodes include Greg Pikitis, which launches the feud between Leslie and her arch nemesis, and Halloween Surprise, which culminates in Ben proposing to Leslie. Meet 'N Greet is the best of them, though, for one simple reason: it's the first Halloween episode to feature April and Andy as a married couple, and it's just as magical and you'd expect.

The two decide to go all out for their party, with April explaining to the camera that someone will probably die. Oh, and this is when Ben is living with them, yet they don't bother letting him know there's a party happening. That leads to so many great moments of Ben being totally flustered like when he walks in the door looking at his phone and is instantly hit with a skeleton. A flabbergasted Ben is never not funny. Basically every character gets something to do: Ron and Ann go around the house fixing things, Chris solves mysteries as Sherlock Holmes, and Orin creeps everyone the hell out. Plus, Ben and Andy start to communicate more.

Like most of the best Halloween specials of sitcoms, Meet 'N Greet makes you feel like you're hanging out at a party with the funniest people ever, and it just happens to be hosted by a girl who may or may not be a complete psychopath.
